Bye-Bye Coco
The Red Sox traded outfielder Coco Crisp to the Kansas City Royals today. In return Boston gets relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez. Coco was a fan favorite and he played well for the sox. It was only a matter of time before he was dealt. I'm glad the Red Sox didn't trade him last season. He was a big help to the team down the stretch of the season when Jacoby Ellsbury didn't perform. Ramirez has been a quality reliever in the past few years dispite 2007 when he was limited to 17 innings. In 2008 Ramirez pitched 71.2 innings, striking out 70 batters while only walking 31. He had 2.64 era and a .222 batting average against him. I like this deal. Coco was a good player for the Sox, especially in the field where he routinely made spectacular players. But having a strong bullpen can be a major asset and Ellsbury is no slouch in the field. Good luck to Coco i'm sure he will be a boost for the Royals in centerfield. David Dejesus will move to left, who is a Coco type of player.
